Our highly trained support staff will continuously monitor your pet’s anesthesia and post-operative recovery. We use only the safest drugs and anesthetic agents and we are strong proponents of appropriate and effective pain management for your pet.
Our recovery room and intensive care unit is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by doctors and a skilled technical team. We are committed to the highest standard of surgical care and work closely with your family veterinarian to ensure the most successful surgical outcome.
We understand that surgery can be a stressful event and our team expresses compassion and concern for both you and your pet.
During surgery, our doctors and technicians closely monitor each pet’s vital signs, including:
- Heart rhythm and rate
- Carbon dioxide level
- Oxygen level
- Blood pressure
Following surgery pets awaken in the Intensive Care Unit. They are kept warm, comfort-able and are constantly monitored by doctors and technicians during the entire recovery process. Pain management is our highest priority and we utilize effective and up-to-date techniques to ensure a comfortable recovery whilst hospitalized as well as at home.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Pets After Surgery
Our practice is proud to include hyperbaric oxygen therapy as a treatment option for our surgical patients. As part of a post-operative plan, hyperbaric oxygen therapy can facilitate recovery and healing under a wide variety of conditions. There are many benefits to this advanced therapy, including swelling and pressure reduction in cases of injury, accelerated wound healing, and infection control. While this treatment is not widely available among veterinary hospitals, Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center is committed to making hyperbaric oxygen therapy and other advanced treatment options like it available to pets throughout Round Rock and the greater Austin area.
