Ultrasound is an advanced digital imaging technique that allows the veterinarian to examine the internal organs of your pet. Veterinary ultrasound is painless to administer, and has no known side effects. Ultrasound can capture real time movements of the organs, so functional abnormalities can also be found.
During an ultrasound, sound waves are converted into a moving image of your pet’s internal organs. It is available for immediate evaluation and easily shared digitally.
Many people relate ultrasounds to pregnancy exams to show the baby inside the mother, but it has many other uses such as detecting:
- Heart murmurs and blood flow issues
- Blockages in lungs
- Liver, bladder, spleen, and kidney issues
